Promoting Designated collections

The Designation Scheme identifies the pre-eminent collections of national and international importance held in England’s non-national museums, libraries and archives, based on their quality and significance. These inspiring collections represent a vital part of our national cultural and artistic heritage.

This guide, created by Arts Council England, aims to help you promote your Designated collections. It provides easy-to-follow tips and templates to help you:

  • develop your key messaging around Designation
  • encourage your press office to make use of the material provided by the Arts Council
  • achieve media coverage about your collection and the difference that Designation has made
  • provide support in promoting your collection through events, photography, branding and website content
