Guidance documents for museums in the Accreditation Scheme

The Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for museums in the UK. The standard contains specific requirements for the development of the collection, in particular under Section 2: Collections. Accreditation requires that the museum reflects the PAS 197 Collections Management Framework in the organisation of it collections management.

This resource from Arts Council England provides support and guidance for museums in the Accreditation Scheme, either for those applying for the first time or for museums submitting a return. There are guidance documents for each of the three sections in the Accreditation Standard, including guidance governing collections information.

The four primary guidance documents for Accreditation outline how museums might approach completing an application and include information about the detail required to meet the Accreditation Standard.
