Equality Act 2010

It is against the law to discriminate against anyone for reasons of age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, race (including colour, nationality, ethnicity or national origin), religion, belief or lack of belief, or for being or becoming a transsexual person, being married or in a civil partnership, or for being pregnant or having a child with a disability.

The Equality Act protects people who are:

  • At work
  • In education
  • Consumers
  • Using public services and will apply in museums when they are creating and delivering services to make their collections accessible.
