DBS Checks – Who Needs One?

This resource is related to the Accreditation Standard sections 3.3.2, ‘Providing access to the collections and associated information for research purposes and other forms of engagement’ and 3.3.3, ‘Provide effective and stimulating learning and discovery experiences focussed on the collections.’

A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check may be needed for certain jobs or voluntary work, e.g. working with children or in healthcare. This guidance aims to support museums in understanding when checks are required and how to manage them.
