Spectrum in discussion – Use of collections

A format we’re trialling for 2021; Spectrum in discussion is focussed on sharing practice between organisations and individuals. This is an opportunity to informally chat with sector colleagues about how your museum approaches a Spectrum procedure, get feedback, troubleshoot a scenario, and ask questions of each other.

The topic for this discussion is Use of collections – managing and recording how your collections, including images and other reproductions of them, are used, whether by you or anyone else. The range of potential uses is very wide. Among others they include: exhibitions; learning events; enquiries; research projects; operating working machinery; and filming.

Has your museum been implementing, or planning to implement, this procedure? Come along to share and discuss:

Registration has now closed. Information for attendees:

  • Think about how you do things in your museum and come prepared to share this. More information about this will be provided in the joining instructions.
  • The discussion will be hosted via an online platform that should work with whatever browser you use, and without the need for you to install anything else. Using your webcam is optional, so you don’t have to tidy up or dress to impress.
  • Confirmations will be sent out after the registration deadline.

Please note – this is not a training session. You may wish to attend a bitesize structured session about Use of collections in advance, or instead – if so, check out Spectrum book club.
