Join our regular online get-together to chat about a museum topic over your elevenses. This week we’ll be discussing managing digital collection objects.
Our co-hosts this week are Sophie Walker (Information Manager at the British Film Institute) and Marion Crick (Head of Collections Management at V&A). Sophie and Marion are part of the London Museum Documentation Network, which is currently developing a toolkit for managing ‘digital collection objects’ (DCOs). This will provide tools and guidelines taken from the digital preservation community and adapted for museums within the Spectrum framework. You can learn more about the toolkit by watching Sophie’s presentation from the Collections Trust conference here. Join us from 10:55 (for an 11:00 start) to share and discuss the issues and scenarios you face when collecting and managing digital objects at your organisation.
The get-together will be hosted via an online platform that should work with most browsers, and without the need for you to install anything else. Using your webcam is optional, no pressure, and we won’t judge you if you’re still in your dressing gown.
