Collections Trust Award 2020-21 – celebrating collections management

The last few months have been tough for the museum sector, so the theme for the 2020-21 Collections Trust Award is simply ‘celebrating collections management’.

Collections Trust would like to celebrate recent collections-based work achieved in difficult circumstances and the winning museum will receive £1000 to spend on an agreed collections management activity.

The Collections Trust Award highlights the often-unsung achievements of those who manage the collections that lie at the heart of all museums, so you might want to tell the judges about work that went on behind the scenes during lockdown, an initiative to enable volunteers to engage with your collection remotely or an audience-facing online collections project.

To enter, please read the full terms and conditions, which you’ll find here, and complete the form below, which asks for a brief description of the project or activity, its aims and its impact.

Entry is open to all UK museums that are Accredited or working towards Accreditation, and anyone involved in the project or activity – whether they’re a trustee, member of staff or volunteer – can enter on behalf of the museum. However, only one entry per museum, so please confer with colleagues to ensure only one submission is made.

Entries highlighting ongoing work are welcomed. However, a significant part of the project or activity must have been undertaken during 2020.

The deadline for entry to the 2020-21 Collections Trust Award is midnight on Friday 22 January 2021. The judging panel will include members of the Collections Trust board, and there will be an online event to showcase and celebrate the winning museum in March.
