Successful risk management and insurance for museums

The Accreditation Standard requires a museum to have a clear and workable emergency plan, which applies to the workforce, to visitors and to collections. Museums need to have assessed the risks of threats.

The intention of this guide, created by the Association of Independent Museums, is to identify the key areas of insurance that are relevant to museums and to explain how insurance dovetails with risk management to protect property and collections owned by a museum, as well as protecting staff, volunteers and visitors.
