These guidelines on the labelling and marking of museum objects were developed by the Collections Trust with the help of Vivien Chapman at the National Conservation Centre, National Museums Liverpool (NML).
A series of agreed good practice de facto standards have evolved for methods of applying labels and marks to museum objects. The choice of method depends on the material the object is made from, the object’s condition and its size.
This guidance may be useful if you are preparing for Accreditation.
