This resource is related to the Accreditation Standard 2.8 Expert Assessment of security arrangements, ‘The museum must obtain expert security advice for stored and exhibited collections at least every five years, and earlier if needed. It must plan to act on the advice over time.’
The document from the National Counter Terrorism Security Office provides guidance for visitor attractions for effective contingency planning against terrorism. It aims to enable planning, awareness and, in the event of an accident, the effective response of staff on site to manage the safety of visitors and staff. Much of what the guidance contains is common sense, however, the context, the principles, and the processes that are recommended are derived from the experience of experts in the industry.
