The previous site had built up thousands of pages, many of which were quite out-of-date. Over the past year we have been reviewing this content – revising where needed – and have brought across around 500 of the most useful and current resources. In coming months we will transfer many more resources as ‘archived’ content; you will still be able to find these older documents, but they will not appear in your search results unless you want them to.
In the meantime, if you cannot find a particular resource that was on the old site, please drop us an email and we will transfer it to the new site as soon as possible.
The new site’s content management system allows us to note previous URLs that you may have linked to or may come across in published sources. Hopefully these links will still take you to the resources you want. If you come across a broken link or cited URL that no longer works, please let us know and we will add a redirect to the right place.
The new site has been designed and built for us by Surface Impression using WordPress. The beautiful photographs that decorate the site are openly-licensed images shared by museums through the Europeana platform. We selected several hundred of these images and saved them as a collection using a handy curation tool called WITH, developed by our friends at the National Technical University of Athens. Surface Impression used WITH’s API to populate our site with a random selection of these images, which change each time you refresh a page.
